Guidelines

The Food Link Van delivers locally produced foods to businesses in the Skye & Lochalsh area (hotels, restaurants, shops etc).

If you, as a food producer in Skye & Lochalsh, have had enquiries from potential customers that you have been unable to fulfil, or if you would like to sell to localities in Skye & Lochalsh that have so far been outwith your delivery area, then use your local food link van to open up new opportunities

How to use the van

  1. Contact the van Driver John Wright [Tel 01470 532 251] to ensure that a route can be arranged that suits you and the van (see present route). If demand is sufficient routes can be expanded or developed.
  2. Take orders from your customers, as you would normally do.
  3. Let van driver know your delivery requirements by 9pm, on the day before the delivery day.
  4. Have goods ready and clearly labelled, for collection at the arranged time.
  5. Certain foods should be packed in certain ways. i.e. shellfish in waterproof containers and ice packs used where appropriate.
  6. Make sure your produce is protected from the elements, and from risk of contamination, if left outdoors for collection.
  7. Send out your own invoices to your customers.
  8. The cost is a 10% levy on the total cost of all produce delivered by the van. The van is a non-profit making enterprise, so its success depends upon producers paying their levy by the 5th of the following month (e.g. pay July’s delivery levy by 5th August).
  9. Please make levy cheques payable to Food Link Skye & Lochalsh (CIC) and send them to:
Roger Whiddon , Skye & Lochalsh Food Link (CIC)
Idrigill, Orbost, Dunvegan, Isle of Skye IV55 8ZB

Remember to enclose a list of what went where & when!
