Guidelines
The Food Link Van delivers locally produced foods to businesses in the Skye & Lochalsh area (hotels, restaurants, shops etc).
If you, as a food producer in Skye & Lochalsh, have had enquiries from potential customers that you have been unable to fulfil, or if you would like to sell to localities in Skye & Lochalsh that have so far been outwith your delivery area, then use your local food link van to open up new opportunities
How to use the van
- Contact the van Driver John Wright [Tel 01470 532 251] to ensure that a route can be arranged that suits you and the van (see present route). If demand is sufficient routes can be expanded or developed.
- Take orders from your customers, as you would normally do.
- Let van driver know your delivery requirements by 9pm, on the day before the delivery day.
- Have goods ready and clearly labelled, for collection at the arranged time.
- Certain foods should be packed in certain ways. i.e. shellfish in waterproof containers and ice packs used where appropriate.
- Make sure your produce is protected from the elements, and from risk of contamination, if left outdoors for collection.
- Send out your own invoices to your customers.
- The cost is a 10% levy on the total cost of all produce delivered by the van. The van is a non-profit making enterprise, so its success depends upon producers paying their levy by the 5th of the following month (e.g. pay July’s delivery levy by 5th August).
- Please make levy cheques payable to Food Link Skye & Lochalsh (CIC) and send them to:
